SAN DIEGO, CA – January 6, 2009 – The Active Network, Inc. (Active), a leading provider of application services technology and marketing solutions for community service and participatory sports organizations, today announced that it has acquired substantially all of the assets of Clubspaces, Inc., a leading provider of online technology and services for youth and amateur sports associations, leagues and teams. Co-founded by Duncan Jackson and Steve Viarengo in 2006, Clubspaces, located in Pleasanton, CA, provides online tools to manage website creation, league scheduling, player registration, payment processing, fundraising and communication applications. The integration of Clubspaces’ software will allow ActiveSports, a division of The Active Network, to improve online registration, content management and social media capabilities across multiple sports markets including soccer, baseball, volleyball, water polo, basketball and football. Additionally, with access to more than 5 million players, parents and volunteers, Clubspaces offers brands the ability to reach their target audience through sponsorship and online advertising opportunities.

“Clubspaces has built a strong reputation in the industry for providing a suite of quality services and software that many of the largest youth sports governing bodies use to streamline their online operations,” said Matt Ehrlichman, executive vice president, The Active Network, Inc. “Active’s acquisition of Clubspaces reaffirms our position as a youth sports market leader with a best in class product and an industry leading client base.”
